The division between PM and AM and the displayed airplane on the back, a respresentation of the proposed Boing Supersonic Transporter, leeds me to believe that in the case of the SST more American pilots where involved in the development of this Airman SST.
Also it's nickname pumpkin shows that the watch was a hit in the USA.
In 1968 they launched a chronograph version. Less then 100 chronograph were sold worldwide and 2 years later it was taken out of production.
